TOTO: Could you please tell us about “The Mall Lifestore Thapra”?

Khun Maythinee: It is a great transformation of The Mall Thapra which hasn’t done a major renovation like this for 32 years since we first opened in 1989.  The renovation of The Mall Thapra in the area of ​​150,000 square meters, we have invested a budget of 3,000 million baht for this renovation. When we look at this renovation we think about  function and convenience of customers.

TOTO: Why did you choose TOTO automatic products for your project?

Khun Maythinee: TOTO is a brand of all the brands that we look at. In the situation of COVID-19 and the New Normal, everyone doesn’t want to touch anything. Then we made the restrooms in the malls as public areas where people of all ages and genders could use them. And then we try to be a part of Universal Design. Every floor will have a restroom for the disabled people, and a diaper changing bed.

We’ve found that not everyone wants to touch the toilet or anything in the restroom. Whether it is a matter of washing hands or not wanting to touch the sanitary ware. We try to find sanitary ware that meets our needs that 1. Must be hygiene 2. Beautiful 3. Easy to clean. and 4. Sustainability, use less water.

Think about it, normally, press flush 1 time and use 6 liters. How many liters does 100 people use? How many liters does it take for 1000 people? My department store has 15 million visitors per year, how many liters will be used per year?

So we decided which sanitary ware we should choose. We chose to pick out some brands and TOTO is the one of all brands that we chose.  The result is that everyone is satisfied, even users, because of the delay timing, cleaning, everything is just right. TOTO: How important are the restrooms to the department store?

Khun Maythinee: Since I’ve been working in the department store circle for over 30 years, almost 40 years. I have made decorations in the restrooms. It’s the first time. I was very proud. It was right. A teenager went into the restroom and took photos. Which has become the new normal of people who like to take photos even in the restrooms. Therefore, we think that the restroom is an important part like the restroom in the house. In the mall, it is also an important part.

Nowadays, you don’t want people to come to the mall for shopping only, but they should enjoy spending time. Everything must be a “A Happy Place to Live Life”. We will go to the place where we can enjoy and be happy.

 

TOTO: What should the restroom inside the department store look like?

Khun Maythinee: We have proven that people want 1. Comfortable. 2. Cleanliness. Everyone needs a clean toilet with a good smell. We improved here to make it hygiene and clean, beautiful, and functional. As I said, we do The Mall LifeStore here, we changed everything, from the concept and design.

 

TOTO: What are your communication strategies to let customers know that the restrooms inside the department store are completely clean?

Khun Maythinee: We opened The Mall Ngamwongwan, the restroom is clean, everyone likes it very much. There will be social media which some people will post on their Instagram. And word of mouth is the best advertisement. They will tell each other that the toilet here is very clean, let’s go to the toilet first. And when the customers try it for the first time, they get what they want, and can answer their needs with peace of mind, without having to advertise at all. When the customer goes to the toilet and gets what they want, they will go to the toilet again.

TOTO: Could you please tell us how you feel about TOTO products?

Khun Maythinee: Last year, when we came to know each other in the new year. He came to talk like this. I thought in my head “I’m impressed that what he said was what we wanted.” That’s why I turned to look at TOTO.

This is exactly what we’re looking for. We don’t want to use a lot of water because it wastes resources. We want the toilets to be clean. We don’t want a bad smell. We want functions. We don’t want to touch anything at all when going to the toilet. I said to him all the time that I want everything touchless. We want that because the new normal under the COVID-19 situation, everyone doesn’t want to touch anything but needs its functionality to use. I have invested and used TOTO products this time. If it’s not good, I don’t know what to use anymore.
